Project
Chimney Rebuild in Winchmore Hill
Winchmore Hill
Rebuilt chimney stack with new pots and leadwork details.

Work carried out
This chimney rebuild in Winchmore Hill was carried out after the upper section of the stack had deteriorated to the point where repair alone would not have offered a dependable long-term result. We started by inspecting the condition of the brickwork, mortar joints, and leadwork around the base so the rebuild could be planned properly. Damaged sections were then dismantled in a controlled way, with care taken to protect the surrounding roof covering and to preserve the stability of the lower structure. From there, the chimney was rebuilt using sound materials and neat course lines so the finished stack looked consistent with the existing roofline.
Once the brickwork had been rebuilt, attention turned to the weatherproofing details that make the difference between a chimney that looks good and one that performs properly through every season. New leadwork and finishing details were installed around the base, the top section was completed with protective terminals, and the whole assembly was checked for alignment, stability, and runoff performance. The finished result restored both the appearance and structural integrity of the chimney while giving the homeowner a safer, more durable solution than repeated patch repairs. It is the sort of project where careful sequencing, tidy workmanship, and good finishing details are just as important as the rebuild itself.
